This weekend the moment was there for the ladies to measure our strength with the leading team in this year’s competition, UFC Utrecht 1. With Katja and Iris now both being back in the country, and with the new players we gathered over the season, we now have a fairly large number of ladies at our disposal, and we were happy to be able to use two complete line-ups this week again. Utrecht 1 had not lost a single game in the competition so far, and had conceded only one goal in seven matches, so the match promised to be a tough one for us.

Nevertheless we put up a pretty good fight in the first period, allowing only one goal from our opponents. In the second period, despite our determined resistance, Utrecht managed to score three more, expanding their lead to 4-0. Then finally our fighting spirit paid off and we could add the second goal against Utrecht so far this year to our record. At the beginning of the third period, the score had mounted to 5-1 for Utrecht, but we were not ready to give up yet. We took more and more initiative in the game, which eventually paid off as we scored our second goal of the match. However, this was also the only goal in the last period, so it was not enough to catch up with the other team.
