Messed Up - FB Agents Ladies 28/03/2009

Whoohay, we did it! After an excruciatingly long wait, we finally got to play our first match in the play-offs last Saturday against Messed Up. But in the end it was well worth the wait, for we started the play-offs with our very first win this season!

We had played Messed Up twice before this season and both games had ended in a draw. This time we were determined to come out on top, even more so because we have set ourselves the goal of obtaining first place in the play-offs, becoming 6th overall. And with the stars of our team back in the country again, and with some new game tactics, we had good hopes we were actually going to do it this time.

We started the game very concentrated and balanced. We needed some getting used to our new set-up, but we were in control of the game and we had the upper hand on the field. We also took quite some shots on goal, but we didn’t yet manage to get them past their goalie. The first period thus went by fairly steadily, without any goals on either side.

The second period started in much the same way, but then, despite the balance on the field, Messed Up opened the score. This seemed to be the impetus we needed and not long after we fulfilled the expectations and managed to get even again, drawing the score at 1-1 after two periods.

In the third period, we regained our prevalence straight away, by scoring our second goal within 30 seconds from the beginning of the period. This set the tone for the rest of the period, in which Messed Up had little to say and we scored 3 more goals, settling the end score at 1-5.

In this game, we proved to be the stronger team, which is reflected by our shot total of 25 against 6 for Messed Up. If we can keep this spirit, I estimate our chances in the play-offs to be rather strong. However, our next game is against Quick Feet, who are currently leading the play-offs, so then we will have to prove we can also hold our ground against a more challenging team.
